Usually when someone sees my work for the first time their initial question is inevitably “how is it made?”. More often than not people assume all of my work is laser cut (who would be mad enough to cut out such small details for hours a day right?). Even after all these years I still get immense pleasure from the look on people’s faces which range from pleasant surprise to downright disbelief when I tell them I make all of my metal pieces myself. When I mention I often make the chains myself too they look at me like I’ve just told them I’m Elvis.

Immersed as I am in my work I often forget that not everyone knows exactly how jewellery is made. Thanks to the brilliant photographer Nelli Huié who put this video together (and rather masterfully condensed 3-4 hours of work into under 2 minutes), I can finally show you how one of my custom monogram rings is made from start to finish. Enjoy!

  1. Hi Clare,
I have recently had the pleasure of viewing your video and checking out your website. Your work is amazing, i love it. I too make silver jewellery and my passion is saw piercing, though not quite up to your skill level yet. I noticed the saw you were using and was wondering what brand it is and where they can be purchased.
    Cheers

  3. Hello from bonny Scotland, I recently saw one of your pieces on easy, a silver filigree eye patch. I mentioned this to my sister Hilary who lives in Australia, and as I recently had an accident and lost the sight in my left eye, she decided I deserved a treat and purchased it for me. It arrived today.
I absolutely love it! It’s very comfortable to wear, and after 4 months of pain and looking weird I actually feel pretty again. Thankyou so much for your beautiful craftsmanship.

  4. Hello,
It’s so wonderful to hear from the woman herself! I was so impressed by the thoughtfulness of your sister and to hear how much you appreciate the eyepatch makes me so happy that I could help.
Thank you so much for contacting me, I hope you’re healing well.
